It features a strong, sweet fragrance and robust growth, making it a favourite in gardens worldwide. With over one hundred million sold globally, it is considered to be the most popular rose of all time.

Peace rose achieved the highest accolade a rose can receive when it was named Worlds Favourite Rose and inducted into the Rose Hall of Fame in 1976. Additionally, it has garnered recognition in various rose competitions and exhibitions worldwide for its exceptional beauty and performance.

Francis Meilland, anticipating the German invasion of France in 1940, sent cuttings of his new rose to friends in Italy, Turkey, Germany, and the United States to safeguard it. The cuttings were reportedly shipped to the U.S. on the last plane available before the invasion. Due to the disruption of communication during WW2, the rose was given different names in various countries. In France, it was named Madame A. Meilland in honour of Meillands late mother. In Australia, it was introduced in 1947 as Peace.
