Transport Manager


ASQ Assets is seeking a dedicated, motivated and experienced Transport Manager to lead our quarry transport division. This role is an important part of the leadership team working alongside Quarry, Sales, Maintenance and Garden & Landscape divisions.

ASQ is a locally owned, family-operated business, which has been servicing Central Victoria since 1970. The business consists of three divisions: ASQ Allstone Quarries, ASQ Premix Concrete and ASQ Garden & Landscape. This diversity enables ASQ to provide products, expertise and solutions for a wide range of domestic, commercial and industrial projects, both locally and throughout Victoria. Our quarry produces and supplies quality crushed rock and aggregate materials to Bendigo and the surrounding district. We maintain large stockpiles of our products and our sales team provides a fast and safe turnaround.

ASQ Assets provides a one stop shop for all fleet and maintenance services to the ASQ Group to ensure our fleet of trucks, vehicles, heavy plant equipment is maintained and operating safely and efficiently.

About the role:

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the maintenance, scheduling, and operation of the quarry transport fleet, ensuring vehicles are running efficiently and safely
  • Ensuring all operations comply with industry regulations
  • Managing truck and driver allocation, scheduling routes, and overseeing subcontractor drivers when needed
  • Planning and managing daily delivery schedules and ensuring timely deliveries and pick-ups
  • Leading a team of transport drivers and weighbridge operators, conducting performance reviews, and providing training and development opportunities
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for suppliers and ensuring strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Overseeing safety protocols, including fatigue management and risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Maintaining accurate records of fleet operations, daily driver sheets, and submitting management reports to senior leadership
  • Managing and overseeing daily weighbridge operations, including conducting audits and ensuring smooth operations during absences

Key Selection Criteria

  • 3+ years’ experience in managing transport, fleet or similar experience in a related field
  • 3+ years’ leadership experience in a similar industry
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets
  • Experience with weighbridge systems (desirable)
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, with the ability to guide, motivate and develop a team of transport drivers and weighbridge operators
  • Knowledge of OHS and environmental regulations applicable to industry
  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required
