Autumn Tasks for a Thriving Garden

Autumn is here, and it’s time to tackle those garden jobs before the cooler weather sets in. The soil’s still warm, the mornings are crisp, and the weeds are starting to introduce themselves — perfect conditions to set your backyard up for the cooler months ahead.

Start by planting your winter veg. Get broccoli, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots and kale in the ground now for strong, reliable crops through winter. These hardy crops will thrive through the cooler months, ensuring a steady supply of fresh produce.

While you're planting, don’t forget your spring bulbs. Tuck in Dutch iris, daffodils, ranunculus and tulips now for a jaw-dropping display of colour when the weather warms up again. Plant once, and let nature do the rest.

Soil health is key. Dig through some compost and feed everything with Charlic Carp Liquid Fertiliser Concentrate to give your plants a solid start. For your lawn, hit it with Oxafert to keep it green and weed-free as the temps drop or our favourite product Croplift 400 lawn fertilizer, so good it'll make your neighbours green with envy.

For those weeds you cannot get too, or that just won’t quit, sort them out early with Slasher Organic Weedkiller, a glyphosate-free, fast-acting, option that’s safe for use in organic farms and gardens.

As the temperature drops, it’s time to think about keeping your garden hydrated. Make watering easy with the Hills range — durable hoses, pressure sprayers, and trigger sprayers that get the job done without fuss. Hills have been a trusted name in Aussie homes forever.

If you’re serious about your tools, upgrade to the Kelso range. Known for their heavy-duty wheelbarrows, Kelso has been a staple in Aussie backyards and on jobsites for decades, providing gardeners and tradies with premium quality gear built tough for Aussie conditions. Whether you’re hauling heavy loads or tackling tough garden jobs, Kelso tools are made to last.

And finally, stock up on firewood. The nights are getting cold fast, and there’s nothing better than a roaring fire after a day in the garden.
